Finnair resumes its direct flights between Helsinki and Agadir

A new flight route connecting Agadir and Helsinki, operated by the Finnish airline Finnair, was inaugurated on Wednesday at Agadir Al Massira International Airport.

An official welcoming ceremony for the inaugural flight of the Agadir-Helsinki air link was organized in the presence of several officials and diplomats, including the Ambassador of Finland to Morocco, Marjaana Sall.

Scheduled at a frequency of one weekly flight from October 2026 to the end of April 2027, this connection will provide direct service throughout the winter season, facilitating access to the Agadir destination for Finnish and Nordic clientele.

‘The inauguration of this flight route testifies to the strengthening of relations between Morocco and Finland and should increase the number of Finnish tourists visiting Agadir and the Souss-Massa region’, Ms. Sall stated to the press, recalling that the opening of this route marks Finnair’s return to Agadir after several years of absence.”

For his part, the Vice President of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Souss-Massa, Abdelhaq Chahli, highlighted in a similar statement the importance of the Finnish market for tourism in Agadir, emphasizing the crucial role of opening new flight routes for tourism promotion in the Souss-Massa region.”

The inauguration of this flight route opens up development prospects for upcoming seasons, with the ambition to progressively increase frequencies and expand the flight offering to other cities in the Kingdom, the Souss-Massa CRT stated in a press release, adding that Finnair’s return is of particular importance for Agadir and the Souss-Massa region as the Nordic market is among the destination’s historical markets.”

This resumption reflects the commitment of regional stakeholders to reconnect sustainably with this clientele and to strengthen Agadir’s positioning in high-potential European markets,’ the CRT affirmed, noting that the return of the Finnish airline ‘thus constitutes a new opportunity to consolidate historical ties between Agadir and the Nordic countries, support regional tourism dynamics, and establish this service within a sustainable development perspective’ for the benefit of the Souss-Massa region.”

Beyond strengthening air connectivity, this link is expected to generate positive economic benefits for the entire regional tourism ecosystem, the same source assures, adding that the Nordic clientele represents significant potential for hotel establishments, tourism operators, travel agencies, transport companies, and activity providers.
