Taghazout among ‘the 10 destinations to discover in the world’
The seaside resort of Taghazout, located north of Agadir, is featured among the ten destinations highlighted by the Canadian travel platform “FlightHub” in its annual travel trends report, “FlightHub Unveiled 2026.” The destination’s inclusion reflects a broader diversification of Moroccan tourism, as smaller regions with unique identities attract growing interest from North American travelers.
Taghazout is presented as ‘a Moroccan destination with a unique identity, driven notably by surfing, outdoor activities, beach culture, and a laid-back lifestyle.'”
The inclusion of Taghazout in this selection illustrates another evolution in Moroccan tourism: beyond the major destinations historically known to international travelers, such as Marrakech and Casablanca, smaller cities and regions are also beginning to gain visibility among a North American audience, according to FlightHub.”
This comes amid growing interest from North American travelers in Morocco. Data from ‘FlightHub’ indicates that Canadian travelers spend an average of 15 nights in Morocco, noting that this average length of stay demonstrates the Kingdom’s appeal for relatively long trips, well beyond simple getaways of just a few days.”
In a statement to MAP, the Director of Communications for ‘FlightHub Group,’ Ayoub Hissar, estimated that ‘Taghazout clearly reflects the diversification of tourism in Morocco,’ in the sense that smaller destinations with a strong identity built around surfing, skateboarding, and beach culture are beginning to find their place among North American travelers.”
“Our data also shows that travelers from Quebec book stays in Morocco at a significantly higher rate than those from the rest of Canada, making it a particularly interesting market for the destination,’ he pointed out.”
Connectivity further strengthens this dynamic. With the direct Montreal-Agadir flight, the entire region becomes much more accessible from Quebec, and Taghazout is less than an hour away from Agadir. This is exactly the kind of development that can allow Moroccan destinations less traditionally known in North America to gain visibility,’ he added.”
The Moroccan destination appears in this selection alongside Seyðisfjörður in Iceland, Sarandë in Albania, Ilha Grande in Brazil, Montreal in Canada, Buenos Aires in Argentine, Hong Kong in China, Tahiti in French Polynesia, Seoul in South Korea, and London in the United Kingdom.”
According to ‘FlightHub,’ this selection highlights ten destinations representing different travel ‘tempos and energies,’ moving beyond traditional tourism categories.
